CONSTRUCTION !

Accessibility Project (Phase 1) The tall fences in the playground with the obscuring screens on them are the obvious outward signs, but look beyond these and you will see that things are happening in the first phase of our Accessibility Project. This phase, a co-operative effort between the congregation and the Daycare, involves the installation of an elevator to allow handicapped access to both the Upper and Lower halls. It is important to realize that “handicapped” is for us a term with very wide applicability. For example, a parent with a child in a stroller is very significantly handicapped when it comes to getting into our building, so we expect the project to have benefits for a large number of the users of the building. Beyond the fence, you will see that the shed has gone, and that there is a hole in the ground where the elevator will actually be installed (in the corner where the Reception Room meets the Hall). Less obviously, temporary walls have been put up in the basement, so that curious children (and adults) cannot stray into danger in the construction site. Completion of the project is anticipated by the end of the year. The required funding is completely in place, and we were especially pleased to recently receive a grant of $10,000 from the Diocesan Baker Fund. We will be keeping you posted on our progress.

Anointing is one of the sacraments of the Christian Church dating back to Christ’s own ministry.... more »
